
Man Charged with Drug Trafficking after Police Chase in Maine
A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with Aggravated Drug Trafficking following a police chase in Oakland, Maine.
Eight Month Drug Trafficking Investigation
Edwin Lawrence from Vassalboro was taken into custody as part of an eight month investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Agents Knew Suspect was Transporting Drugs to Maine
Agents apprehended Lawrence after learning that he was bringing a large amount of drugs to the state of Maine on February 25. A warrant had been obtained for a search of his vehicle and his person.
Pulled Over on I-95 and Fled Away in Vehicle
He was pulled over around 8 pm on I-95 near Gardiner. Lawrence fled from officers as they approached his vehicle.
Tires Deflated During Police Pursuit
His tires were deflated with a tire deflation device after a brief chase.
Suspect Fled on Foot and Arrested
He then fled on foot and was quickly arrested with the help of a K-9 Unit.
Cocaine Valued at $127,000 Seized
MDEA Agents seized 2,000 grams of cocaine and $1,000 in suspected drug money. The estimated street value was $127,000.

Residence Searched
His residence on Webber Pond Road was searched with no additional evidence located.

Multiple Charges
Lawrence was charged with Aggravated Drug Trafficking, Eluding a Police Officer and Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention.

Bail Set at $92,000
He was taken to the Kennebec County Correctional Facility with bail set at $92,000. The investigation is ongoing.
