It’s pretty cool that Maine is home to one of the most picturesque and popular parks in the entire nation.

One that gets over four million visitors every year, yet still manages to keep its wondrous character and serenity. Of course, I’m talking about Acadia National Park. This coastal oasis is truly Maine’s golden child, with its iconic views, bustling wildlife, epic location, and endless activities.

Parkgoers will enjoy a true Maine experience while exploring a park that brings the mountains right to the sea. It’s unquestionably one of the most unique areas on the entire Eastern Seaboard, if not the entire country.

Birding, kayaking, horseback riding, beachgoing, biking, and other activities can all be found in Acadia. However, the most popular activity has to be hiking, and for good reason. Acadia has one of the best trail systems in the country.

Not only are the trails beautiful, but they are also extremely diverse. You’ll find everything from easy, flat hikes to some of the most difficult trails on the Eastern Seaboard.

In fact, you can basically spend an entire week in the park and never repeat a hike. That’s because there are over 150 miles of hiking and carriage trails in Acadia. That’s one heck of a number, considering it’s not necessarily a large park.
