Lewiston Police are investigating two separate shooting incidents on Saturday that sent two people to the hospital.

How Badly Were the Two People Hurt?

Both injuries occurred in the same place, on Lisbon Street, near Dufresne Plaza. Lewiston Police were notified after two people walked into the emergency department of St. Mary's Hospital, saying they had been shot. That was around 8:00 Saturday night. WGME-TV reports the two people are expected to be okay and it's believed they were both hit by the same bullet.

Lewiston Police are reviewing surveillance videos from the area and have said they do not believe this was a random shooting. So far, there's been no comment on what motivated the incident or whether police have any leads on who may have pulled the trigger.

Where Was the Other Shooting?

Earlier in the day, police were called to Pierce Street in Lewiston in response to residents who said they heard gunshots. WGME-TV reports people said they heard the shots in the area of 110 Pierce Street. No one was hurt in this incident, but some of the shots reportedly hit an apartment building.

Were the Two Incidents Related?

So far, there's no word on whether Lewiston Police believe these two shootings are related. They both remain under investigation.
