Hunting Seasons Winding Down
Maine's hunting seasons for certain game birds and small game animals are entering their final days.
Several seasons that began in the fall end on Thursday. They include ruffed grouse, bobwhite quail and pheasant. Small animal hunting seasons for gray squirrel, raccoon, skunk and opossum are also ending.
Gray squirrel hunters also have a special falconry season that extends until Feb. 28. Seasons for bobcat, fox and snowshoe hare will still be active.
State authorities recommend hunters check with guidelines before hunting. Game animals are subject to different bag limits and other restrictions.
