Some good news for motorists. Prices at the pump continue to head downward.

According to the latest report from, gas prices in the Pine Tree State dropped by 1.4 cents a gallon in the past week to an average $2.79 a gallon. Prices at most stations in Presque Isle, as of Tuesday afternoon, were at $2.89 a gallon.

New Hampshire saw a slight drop to an average $2.73 a gallon while Vermont's prices fell 1.4 cents a gallon to $2.78.

Nationally, the price of gas fell 2.1 cents to an average of $2.84 a gallon. That's 8.1 cents lower than last year at this time, but just 0.6 cents a gallon lower than a month ago.
