Gardiner Police are looking for the person who allegedly broke into a home and assaulted the resident.

Where Did This Happen?

It was approximately 6:45 Monday night when Gardiner Police were called to the area of Brunswick Avenue and Pierce Street for a report of an ongoing burglary and assault. As they drove into the area, officers conducted a preliminary sweep of the vicinity but found no trace of anyone who could potentially be a suspect.

How Badly Was the Victim Hurt?

Police interviewed the victim who told them he had been confronted by the suspect as he started to walk into his basement. A physical altercation ensued and the victim sustained a head injury and some potentially broken ribs. The suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction. Police have not released a description of the suspect who, at the last report, remains at large.

Who Do We Contact With Information?

Police called in a K9 unit to try and track the suspect but they were unable to find anyone. Now, Gardiner Police are hoping to hear from anyone who may have information about the case. They're asking anyone in the area who has outdoor security cameras/ring cameras to check their footage from around that time on Monday evening to see if they might have captured an image of the fleeing suspect.

Anyone who believes they have information that's pertinent to this case is asked to contact Gardiner Police Officer Marston at 207-624-7076, extension 9.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
