Exclusive Maine Restaurant Cancels Reservations and Will Only Accept Hand-Mailed Requests
One Maine restaurant in Freedom has had so many reservation requests... they cancelled them all.
Now, in order to make a reservation at The Lost Kitchen, you've gotta go old school. Instead of accepting online or phone reservations, the well-reviewed central Maine restaurant is accepting hand-written and mailed requests only.
Erin French, the chef and owner of The Lost Kitchen, recently told the Bangor Daily News and the Boston Globe that they were getting thousands of calls for a seat at her 40-seat restaurant in an old mill in Freedom. In fact, one night in 2017, they got more than 10,000 calls for the 2017 season.
Now, in order to stop the flood of calls to the small restaurant, they've laid out some new rules to get in to eat:
Send a hand-addressed 3" x 5" postcard to the restaurant's address.
Include your name, mailing address, email address, and phone number.
Postmarked between April 1st and April 10th.
Beginning April 11th, the restaurant will select random postcards to fill up reservations until the restaurant is booked full for the season.
Best of luck getting a table at Maine's most sought-after restaurant!
