A 22-year-old man died Wednesday night after a van crashed and drove off a bridge in Brunswick.

Brandon MacFarland from Sebago was pronounced dead at the scene.
Crash Happened on On-Ramp to Route 1 in Maine
The crash happened around 6:50 pm on the Route 196 on-ramp to Route 1.
Single-Vehicle Crash with One Man Dead at the Scene
The Brunswick Police Department said MacFarland was driving a Ford Transit when he went off the bridge.
Drove Up Icy Embankment and Over Barrier Before Going Off the Bridge
He lost control of the vehicle, drove up an icy embankment and over a barrier. The vehicle went off the bridge and fell to the ground below, according to Brunswick PD.

On-Ramp Closed for Hours and Route 1 Down to One Lane in the Area
The on-ramp was closed for hours and parts of Route 1 in the area was down to one lane of traffic.

Crash Reconstruction Unit Processing and Investigating the Crash Site
The Brunswick Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit was called to process the site and conduct an investigation, according to WGME News.

Assisting was the Topsham Police Department, Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office, the Brunswick Fire Department and the Maine Department of Transportation.
