Corinth Family Uses Annual Halloween Display To Honor Lewiston Heroes
The Boddy family has been entertaining Trick-or-Treaters in Corinth with an awesome light display at their house since 2020.
When the pandemic hit a few years back, they were looking for a way to attract more visitors, since they live in a rural spot. They came up with the idea for a light show.
"...we want them to enjoy going out, seeing the cool displays that are around. Because that's part of the fun of the holidays."
From year to year, Steven Boddy has been improving and expanding the show. They started with just over a thousand lights during the first year.
"We are almost at 6,000 lights. This summer we added 1 more controller to keep up with new props."
He says this year he's even had some local organizations reach out to get a behind-the-scenes look at how it all works.
"We have had both the local Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts visit and learn about the show."
This year the family also wanted to do something special for their friend who was killed a year ago in the Lewiston shootings.
"Last Friday we were about to work with other light show hosts and run our show in blue for those who died a year ago in Lewiston."
"I dedicated my show to the memory of a friend, Mike Deslauriers, who was killed trying to stop the gunman in the Lewiston bowling alley."
Boddy's Holiday Lights Display is located at 99 Garland Road in Corinth, and folks who pull up in front of the house can listen to the different songs by programming their vehicle radios to 92.1 FM.
"The show has 8 songs and runs almost 30 [minutes]...with Halloween favorites like Thriller, Ghostbusters, and This is Halloween from Nightmare before Christmas. We have added Gangnam Style and Lady Gaga's Bloody Mary as well as a couple more."
"We have seen foot traffic increase the last two years so we are hoping the word spreads so this season will be the busiest yet."
The Boddy's Light Display runs from 6 PM through 9 PM until November 3rd.
On Halloween night, Boddy says he'll be passing out candy, during the light show, from 5-9 PM.
"We want to stress that this event was created to have an activity that families can do together...Please be respectful of my neighbors and not block their driveways. You can get a taste of the show by searching for Garland Rd. Lightshow on YouTube."
You can follow the light show on their Facebook Page, Garland RD Lightshow.
