High winds are expected to cause widespread blowing snow and poor visibility on the roads today. Many schools in the area are closed.
ROAD CLOSURES:
Presque Isle Highway Department has closed the Centerline, McBurnie and Ashby Roads for the day until the winds die down. They won't be plowed so emergency services and wreckers won't be able to reach you. Please avoid these roads and stay safe!
Limestone Police Advisory: Route1A between the Bog road and the noyes road coming in to Limestone is closed due to further notice heavy snow drifts and blowing snow.
South Main Street in Caribou is closed between County Electric and the West Presque Isle Road. Seek alternative routes.
Fort Kent Police Department wants to advise if people don't need to travel Strip Rd to please use Rte. 11 due to it being nearly passable with complete white outs.
Ashland Police Chief Cyr Martin is reporting Route 11 north of the Garfield Road to the Ashland town line is closed due to poor road conditions. Blowing snow is making driving difficult.
Van Buren PD: Route 1 /Caribou Road has been shut down until further notice.

MSAD 1 Presque Isle, Mapleton area schools – closed today
RSU 39 Caribou, Limestone, Stockholm – closed today
MSAD 20 Fort Fairfield Schools – closed today
Easton Schools – closed today
Central Aroostook Schools (RSU 42) – closed today
Caswell School – closed today
Van Buren Schools (SAD 24) – closed today
Ashland Schools (SAD 32) – closed today
Washburn Schools (SAD 45) – closed today
Woodland Consolidated School – closed today
Schools in Zones 2 & 3 of the Anglophone West School District are closed today due to blowing snow and poor road conditions. This includes Grand Falls, Plaster Rock, Perth-Andover, Florenceville-Bristol, Bath, Centreville, Hartland and Woodstock.
UMPI will be closed today. All classes are canceled and offices are closed. This includes the Houlton Higher Education Center.
NMCC will not open today (Tuesday) This includes Husson classes and the Wellness Center.
MSAD #1 Adult and Community Education – closed today, all day and evening classes are cancelled
OTHER CLOSURES AND DELAYS:
Please CANCEL the snow removal for this evening. The city needs to focus on the roads at this time. They will be removing snow TOMORROW EVENING, February 27th.
P.I. Library is closing at 4:30 p.m. today.
Hillside, Mars Hill, & Star City IGA will be closing at 8 PM this evening due to the winter storm. Thank you for your understanding & please stay safe.
All Aroostook County Action Program locations will close at 3:00 p.m.
UMFK will be closed today, February 26, due to dangerous weather conditions.
Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center will be closing at 5pm today

Aroostook Regional Transportation System (ARTS) - morning services are cancelled. Office is open.

The Class B North Region Quarterfinal ice hockey game, Presque Isle vs. John Bapst, has been postponed due to weather conditions. The game will be made up Wednesday, February 27 at 6:00PM.
