Box Truck Heavily Damaged After Hitting A Carmel Railroad Bridge
A box truck driver misjudged the height of his vehicle and struck a railroad overpass in Carmel.
The Crash Happened on Five Road in Carmel
No one was hurt when a box truck struck the metal railroad bridge on Five Road in Carmel Wednesday afternoon. The name of the vehicle's driver has not been released.

Significant Damage Was Done to the Truck
The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office was called to the crash at approximately 2:30 Wednesday afternoon after the Penobscot Regional Communications Center learned of the crash. While the driver wasn't hurt, officials say the box truck sustained extensive damage. Railroad officials were sent to the scene to assess any damage done to the bridge.
Clearance Heights are Marked on the Bridge
Officials say this bridge has been struck in the past, despite the fact that the height is clearly marked. A sign on the front of the overpass states that the clearance is 11' 8" in the center and 11' 9" along the sides.
There's no word on whether any charges will be filed.
