A power outage in downtown Bangor on Tuesday was caused by a crash in front of a Main Street restaurant.

Where Was the Crash?

Employees of the restaurant got a surprise when they reported to work Tuesday morning. They found a black car with heavy damage out in front of the business and a power pole that had been cut in two. The crash caused a power outage which forced the business to delay its opening until 3:00.

How Did It Happen?

We asked Sergeant Jason McAmbley of the Bangor Police Department if he had any information about the incident. He said the investigating officer's report states that the driver looked away from the roadway just prior to the crash. The vehicle drifted to the right and struck the utility pole, severing it, and knocking out power.

Was Anyone Hurt?

No one was hurt in the crash.

This incident serves as an excellent reminder to avoid distractions at all times while driving. Taking your eyes off the road for even a few seconds can have catastrophic results.
