5 Tell-Tales Signs That Immediately Let You Know That Someone Is Not From The 207
The state of Maine, or the '207' as some people like to say, has a whole lot to offer and is a great place to work, play, and raise a family. But let's be honest, you as a Mainer can tell when someone is not from Maine.
Here are 5 telltale signs that someone is not from the 207!
- 1
They Think Red Snapper Is A Fish
I'll admit, everywhere else in the U.S. a Red Snapper is a fish, but not in Maine. So, if you ask someone if they're down for some 'red snapper' and think you're taking them to Red Lobster or something, then you know they're from away!

They Don't Take Their Boots Off At The Door
It doesn't matter whose house you go to. Boots go off at the door and not in the middle of the floor. If someone waltz's into your home with their boots on and doesn't kick them off in the mudroom or in the doorway, then you'll know right away they are not from Maine!

Fiddle Heads Are Not Part Of An Instrument
Speaking of fiddleheads, it won't be long before you find yourself along the banks of the Aroostook, St. John, or Mattawamkeag River's or pulling into a parking lot on Main Street to buy some of these tasty's for your next meal. However, if you tell someone you want to go get some fiddleheads and they pull into the nearest second-hand store or music store, then you know they're not from the 207!

They Think 'Wicked' Is A Glam-Rock 80's Band
Yes, there are still those of us who failed to leave the term 'wicked' back in the 80's, but that's ok because it's still cool to say. But when you say, "That's Wicked" and you're friend thinks you're referencing that 80's glam-band, then you know they're not from the 207! I don't know, any Wicked fans still out there? Make some noise if you are.

They Don't Understand The 'Mainah' Language
Everyone in the 207 knows that 'Ayah' means 'Yes' and your 'Beans' are not something that you eat for supper. Although there are bean suppers in the 207.
