4-Year-Old Died from Gunshot Wound in Maine

A 4-year-old died from a gunshot wound to the head in Lewiston on Saturday morning.

Child Died at Hospital

The Lewiston Police Department said the 4-year-old was pronounced dead at Maine Medical Center around 7:08 am.

911 Call

Police received a 911 call around 4:55 am for 93 Pierce Street. Lewiston PD, Lewiston Fire Department, and United Ambulance Service responded.

Cause of Death under Investigation

The cause and manner of death is being investigated by the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South and the Medical Examiner’s Office. No additional information was released.

Human Services Notified

“The Department of Health and Human Services was notified, per protocol, when there is a death of a child in a household,” said the Maine Department of Public Safety.
