Walsh To Make Home Debut
After five road games to begin the season, the spotlight will shine on the UMaine men's basketball team as they play their home opener tonight at the Cross Insurance Center.The 0-5 Bears are hoping for some home cooking to get them in the win column as new head coach Bob Walsh makes his home debut. Maine will take on a Wagner Seahawk team that comes in with a 2-3 record that includes a come from behind win over Penn their last time out. This will be just the second meeting between the two teams with Wagner taking their first match-up back in the 1991-92 season.
Shaun Lawton leads the Bears offense this season averaging 12 points and 3 steals per game while Marko Pirovic is pulling down 5 boards per game.
Black Bear coach Bob Walsh will join the Morning Pitch Tuesday morning at 7:30 to preview the match-up.
