Two men were taken to The Aroostook Medical Center on Monday afternoon following a head-on collision on Route 163 in Mapleton.


According to State Police, at around 3 p.m., 66-year-old Peter Haskell, of Vermont, was driving East when he drifted over the center line. Haskell's vehicle collide head-on with a truck driven by 64-year-old Robert Stepnowski, of Winterville Plantation.

Police say Stepnowski was trapped in his vehicle and he had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Police say both men were both wearing seat belts.

The Maine Department of Transportation responded to the scene and helped direct traffic around the accident.
