What kind of idiot takes a selfie while driving? If you happen to be that idiot, don't get on my case about calling you an idiot, ridicule works. But I better clear the air before I sound too much like a jerk. I too have fiddled with an electronic device while behind the wheel, how else am I supposed to hear the lady at the drive-thru if I don't pause my iPod?

A recent report from AAA states that striking a pose while driving is trending. Go ahead, Google #drivingselfie, #drivingfast, #drivingtowork, or #drivingintherain. If you've hopped on ANY SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORK before I'm sure you've seen some schmuck doing something dumb behind the wheel instead of paying attention to the road. Exhibit A:

According to Pat Moody, AAA Northern New England manager of public affairs and traffic safety, “Distracted driving is a dangerous epidemic on our highways killing over 3000 people annually."

Over 3,000 people ANNUALLY! People are killed as a result of someone playing with their phone or other device while driving...think about that.

Approximately 660,000 drivers are using cell phones or manipulating electronic devices while driving during daylight hours, according to the latest National Occupant Protection Use Survey (NOPUS) for the year 2011.

It's been reported that traveling at a speed of 60 miles per hour, a driver taking a photo for approximately two seconds takes their eyes off of the road for 176 feet, which is the length of almost two basketball courts.
