Oxy Seizure and Arrest in Lewiston
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Lewiston Police announce the arrest of a Lewiston woman for aggravated drug trafficking charges.
Elizabeth Yvonne Young, 38, was arrested last night and charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Trafficking and 2 counts of Aggravated Importation of Oxycodone with a prior conviction and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.
Tuesday night, MDEA agents from the Western District Task Force, Lewiston and State Police searched Young’s car and apartment after her car was stopped on the Maine Turnpike in Lewiston. MDEA and Lewiston Police have been investigating the importation of prescription pills from an out of state source for the past year. The pills, primarily oxycodone, were being sold in Lewiston-Auburn.
Young was stopped by troopers on the turnpike after returning from out of state. Drug agents seized approximately 500 oxycodone pills from Young with a street value of $20,000. She was arrested without incident and transported to the Androscoggin County Jail.
Agents and Lewiston Police also searched Young’s residence at 6 Perley St. Agents located a handgun at the apartment. Young is prohibited from owning or possessing a gun based on a prior federal drug trafficking conviction in 2009. Bail was set at $75,000. Young was expected to make her initial court appearance Wednesday afternoon in a Lewiston court room.
Also assisting in the investigation was the Maine Department of Corrections, Androscoggin Sheriff’s Office, and a task force with the US DEA.
