Joe Manganiello Shares Blurry New Peek at Batman Villain Deathstroke (Updated)
To celebrate the birthday of DC’s Geoff Johns, Joe Manganiello has shared a new photo of Deathstroke, and it’s…a little blurry. In case you’d forgotten, the actor is playing the Batman villain in Ben Affleck’s solo film, simply titled The Batman — but we might get a peek at the baddie in action a little sooner than that, as Deathstroke is rumored to be making a brief appearance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Update: Apparently the below image is a piece of fan art — not an official sneak peek at Deathstroke. In that case, Manganiello really should’ve credited the fan who created it, DeviantArt user Jeransome.
Affleck shared our first look at Manganiello’s Deathstroke last year via a brief teaser; since The Batman is still in pre-production, it seemed a bit premature for Manganiello to be filming, leading many to speculate that he may very well appear in Justice League this fall. Meanwhile, Manganiello shared a new look at his Batman villain today, in honor of Geoff Johns’ birthday:
Couldn’t someone at Warner Bros. give Manganiello a better photo? In any case, the scrappy pic doesn’t reveal anything particularly new about the character, but it does offer another look at his costume, blurry as it may be.
Though Affleck recently waffled on his solo Batman project, insisting he wouldn’t move forward until the script was right, the actor and director later confirmed that he is indeed firmly attached to direct the film. As of now, only Manganiello is confirmed for The Batman, though Jeremy Irons and J.K. Simmons are expected to reprise their roles as Alfred and Commissioner Gordon, respectively.
Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
