Christmas may be coming a little early to the gas industry in New England.

Prices at the pumps in New England have dropped quite a bit.

According to the latest survey, prices here in Maine have dropped 7.6 cents a gallon this past week to an average price of $2.47 a gallon. Most outlets in Presque Isle were showing a price of $2.65 a gallon as of Monday morning.

Vermont followed suit with Maine. Prices in the Green Mountain State fell 7.6 cents as well, to an average price of $2.65 a gallon. Prices in New Hampshire were at $2.54 a gallon, a drop of 5.8 cents a gallon.

Gas prices around the country all declined. The national average fell 10 cents a gallon over the past week to $2,43 a gallon on average. That's 31.4 cents lower than it was a month ago at this time and 2.7 cents less than a year ago.
