State Police say Adreanna Phillips of Danforth was heading south on Route 1 shortly before 9 p.m. when a moose entered the roadway.  Phillips was unable to avoid the moose and her 2001 Toyota Camry struck the animal head-on, according to Sgt. Josh Haines.

The young woman was transported by ambulance to the Houlton Regional Hospital. There was no word on the extent of her injuries. State Police say Phillips was wearing her seat belt.

The moose was killed in the crash. The vehicle sustained substantial damage to the front end, Sgt. Haines said.
