Some Maine residents are getting checks from Apple in their mailbox that are part of a class-action lawsuit.

What Was the Reason for the Lawsuit?

The checks are written for $92.17, which is each person's share of the suit filed in 2020 against Apple Inc. The lawsuit alleged that Apple Inc had hindered the performance and battery life of older iPhones through software updates. WGME-TV reports the suit was settled without any admission of liability or wrongdoing from the company.

Which Phones Were Named

I think most people who have used an iPhone in the last few years have experienced this. But not everyone is going to get the settlement money. In order to get a piece of the pie, a person would have had to submit a claim in 2020. Do you remember if you did? Me either. But, if you did, you can expect to get one of these checks. In order to be eligible you would have to file a claim and have been a United States owner of an iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, and/or SE device that ran iOS 10.2.1 or later or, in the case of iPhone 7 and 7 Plus devices, that ran iOS 11.2 or later before December 21, 2017.
