According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, snow is expected to move into the area around midday Monday and mix with sleet and freezing rain during the afternoon. Precipitation is expected to turn into rain Monday night.

Environment Canada says a low pressure system will track towards New Brunswick today. Snow will develop over central and northern regions of the province this afternoon and change over to freezing rain then to rain during the evening and overnight periods. Snowfall amounts of near 10 centimetres are currently forecast. A period of freezing rain is expected during the changeover from snow to rain. Over southern regions of the province mainly rain is expected with up to 50 millimetres forecast for parts of the Fundy coast where a rainfall warning has been issued.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.

While forecasters expect four inches of fresh snow or less, the mix with freezing rain and ice has potential to make roadways slick.

The weather alerts are in effect through 10 p.m.

If you're out and about on our roadways today, travel safely.
