Wardens Recover Body of 17-Year-old who Drowned in Buxton
UPDATE: Maine Wardens have recovered the body of 17-year-old Steel Crawford who drowned in the Saco River in Buxton.
Witnesses said Steel Crawford, of Freeport, let go of a rope swing and landed awkwardly in the water on Friday. They said he never resurfaced.
Wardens said Crawford and friends were swimming at Pleasant Point Park in Buxton.
Wardens searched in an area down river of the Route 202 bridge and upriver of the Skelton Dam where water depths are in excess of 50 feet.
