Bangor's Emma Waddell has been named NCAA Swimmer of the Year after winning two national titles and a second place finish at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships in Texas.

The junior swimmer for Williams College missed a third national title by 0.17 of a second in Saturday night's 100-yard freestyle event. Emory College swimmer Fiona Muir won in 49.28 and Waddell was 49.45.

Earlier in the week, Waddell won titles in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly.

She is a former outstanding swimmer for Bangor High School. She won her first collegiate national title in the 100 butterfly as a freshman at Williams, so Waddell is now a three-time national champion after three years of swimming.

Emory University from Georgia won both the men's and women's national championships.

Here's a look at Waddell's week at the national championships...

Wednesday/March 15th: The 50 Freestyle (Waddell wins) and the 200 Medley Relay (Williams team finished 3rd)

Thursday/March 16th: The 100 Butterfly (Waddell wins), 400 Medley Relay (Williams team finished 2nd) and the 200 Free Relay (Williams team finished 2nd)

Saturday/March 18th: 100 Freestyle (Waddell finished 2nd) and the 400 Freestyle Relay (Williams team finished 2nd)
