A woman riding her bicycle was seriously injured on Wednesday night after being struck by a car on the Chapman Road in Presque Isle.

Presque Isle Police say that 44-year-old Bobbie Jo Cameron of Presque Isle was riding her bike in front of 257 Chapman Road at around 7:45 p.m. when a southbound vehicle struck her.

Ms. Cameron's 24-year-old son, Dustin, of Woodland was walking alongside her and was not injured. The Camerons were also heading south and were on the right side of the road.

[UPDATE] *** Police say 39-year-old Brandi Guertin of Chapman turned herself in today and was summonsed for the incident. Any witnesses or others with any information are encouraged to contact Sergeant Mark Barnes***

Ms. Cameron was taken to the Aroostook Medical Center with significant, but non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses say the car slowed down after striking Ms. Cameron, but did not stop. The car is described as a dark colored sedan. Pieces of the car were left behind and collected as evidence.

Presque Isle Police say that a suspect has been identified and the potential involved party has come forward and contacted the police department.***

Presque Isle Police and Fire/Rescue were assisted at the scene by Crown Ambulance.
