The UMaine baseball team mashed its way to two wins Saturday afternoon. The UMaine softball walked-off its way to two wins.

Mahaney Diamond: The Black Bears beat up Manhatten College from New York by scores of 18-13 and 10-6. A total of 30 hits on the day for Maine.

Jeremy Pena, Christopher Bec and Hernan Sardinas all had three hits in game one. Pena, Bec, Jonathan Bennett and Caleb Kerbs all had three RBI.

Pena had another three and four RBI in game two.

With the out-of-conference wins, Maine improves to 12-17. Manhatten is now 9-23.

Kessock Field: The UMaine softball team scored back-to-back walk-off wins over Stony Brook Saturday afternoon 4-3 and 3-2.

The Bears pounded out 16 hits but the big one came in the bottom of the 7th inning when Faythe Goins, a single to rightfield to score the winner.

In game two, Maddie Decker delivered a RBI basehit in the bottom of the 8th inning to giver the Bears a sweep.

The Black Bears improve to 6-1 in America East, 11-18 overall.

The AE series vs Stony Brook resumes Sunday at 11am.
