Top-seed Caribou Runs Past MDI in Quarterfinals [BOYS]

The defending state champion Caribou Vikings pulled away from the MDI Trojans in the second half on the way to a 61-48 quarterfinal win at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor on Saturday.

The No. 8 Trojans started the game with a 10-2 run, but the No. 1 Vikings didn't fold, instead chipping away at the lead and building their own 30-25 lead at the half.

Junior Sawyer Deprey led the Vikings in scoring with 19 points. Senior Alex Bouchard had 16 points. Ethan Holdsworth had 12 points. Parker Deprey had 10 points in the win.

Jack DeCorte had 16 points for MDI. Brady Renault added 13 points.>>MORE>>

Old Town Ousts Hermon To Advance [BOYS]

The Old Town Coyotes continued their run in the tournament, ousting the Hermon Hawks Saturday to advance to the Class B North semifinals.

In Saturday's first boys' quarterfinal in Bangor, the No. 12 Coyotes pulled off the 47-40 upset of the No. 4 Hawks, who were without their injured senior star Isaac Varney for the playoffs.

Old Town was led by Shawn Hoogterp with 15 points, all in the first half. Senior captains Mike Brown and Bryce Richards each had 8 points. >>MORE>>

Top-seed Hermon Survives No. 9 John Bapst in Overtime [GIRLS]

The top-seed Hermon Hawks survived a tough John Bapst Crusaders team in overtime in Saturday's second quarterfinal at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

The Hawks trailed by three with seconds to go in regulation until sophomore Charlotte Caron's buzzer-beating three-pointer tied the game at 34 and sent the game to extra time.

Hermon pulled away in overtime to a 42-34 win.

Senior Grace Page led the Hawks with 12 points. Caron, who was named player of the game, had 8 points in the win. >>MORE>>

Old Town Holds Off Houlton For Quarterfinal Win [GIRLS]

The Old Town Coyotes opened up a lead in the fourth quarter and held the Houlton Shiretowners at bay on their way to a 44-34 quarterfinal win at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor Saturday morning.

Sophomore Maddy Emerson led the No. 4 Coyotes with 17 points, 9 of which came in the second half. Hannah Richards, a junior guard, added 11 points.

Brewer Bests Messalonskee in Class A North Quarterfinal [BOYS]

The Brewer Witches advanced to the Class A North semifinals with a win over the Messalonskee Eagles Saturday night.

The No. 5 Witches used a balanced attack to power past the No. 4 Eagles 63-47 in their quarterfinal contest at the Augusta Civic Center.

Brewer led for the entire contest, maintaining 12-point leads at the half (33-21) and after three quarters (47-35.) It's the eighth win for Brewer in the last nine games. >>MORE>>


Top-seed Hampden Ekes Out Victory Over Mt. Blue [BOYS]

The top-seed Hampden Academy Broncos survived the Mt. Blue Cougars Saturday night and advanced to the semifinal round of the Class A North tournament.

The Broncos had a tough test in the Cougars, who led at the half and went toe-to-toe with the No. 1 seed for the entire game. When the buzzer sounded, Hampden came away with a 57-54 win.

Katahdin Defeats Washburn in Class D Defensive Battle [GIRLS]

#3 Katahdin (14-5) advanced to the Class D Girls' semifinals with a 38-12 win over #6 Washburn (9-10) Saturday night at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Scoring was a struggle in the first half of this contest, with Katahdin leading 3-1 one minute into the second quarter before ending the first half on a 10-0 run. >>MORE>>


Deer Isle-Stonington Avoids Upset, Edges Schenck [GIRLS]

#2 Deer Isle-Stonington (17-2) were tested for the full 32 minutes by an upset-minded #7 Schenck (8-11) team in Saturday's finale at the Cross Center, but staged a late comeback to win 43-40 and advance to the Class D semifinals next week.

The Wolverines held a 30-26 lead through three quarters but the Mariners were able to escape a first round exit thanks to a 17-10 close in the final quarter.

Rylee Eaton led Deer Isle-Stonington with 15 points, while Laura Cote had a game-high 17 points in the losing effort. >>MORE>>
