Multiple local news sources are reporting that scientists at the University of New England have identified bite marks on a whale carcass off the coast of Old Orchard Beach.

Those bite marks match the teeth of a great white shark.

The staff and students at UNE estimate that the shark is anywhere from 12-14 feet long, based on the 18-inch radius of the bite marks on the whale.

Scary stuff! Stay safe out there, and keep an eye out for fins!
