On Veterans’ Day, November 11, 2014, beginning at 4:30 p.m., Presque Isle Elks Lodge #1954 will host a free stew night for all military veterans.
Many folks have today off from work and school in celebration of Veterans Day in the U.S. and Remembrance Day in Canada, but let us not forget just why we have are lucky enough to have the day off.
For the past 10 years a group of dedicated volunteers led by Harry Hafford, have worked tirelessly to ensure, Maine veterans ,have a proper final resting place. The Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Caribou was build on 40 acres of land and is the last home for many of our veterans. Harri Hafford spoke to me about the future of the cemetery.
