Canada Day celebrates the anniversary of Canada's confederation on July 1, 1867 and most communities celebrate with parades, fireworks, and other activities. However, this year many municipalities have decided to use the day as "day of quiet reflection"

Friday, July 1 is Canada Day,  Fête du Canada, a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867 enactment of the Constitution Act which united three colonies into a single country called Canada within the British Empire.
