It’s been eleven years since the first Trainspotting gave us an instant classic, and enough time has passed for Renton, Spud, Simon, and Begbie to learn that their lives as constantly drug-addled youths were unsustainable. In the meantime, Begbie has done some time in prison, Renton and Spud have gotten into system-cleansing athletic routines, and Simon has a very special business venture in the works.

A few new clips from T2: Trainspotting, which has a layover at the Berlinale this month before hitting American theaters, show us what the gang looks like eleven years on, and what happens when they all meet up again.

This last clip is probably my favorite of the five, because I’ve always wondered what would happen if some hapless driver stumbled upon a fight going on in the middle of a parking lot. In T2, it seems, there’s room for comedy in even the most dire of situations.

Here’s the official synopsis:

First there was an opportunity……then there was a betrayal.

Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home.

They are waiting for him: Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle).

Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.

T2: Trainspotting hits theaters on March 3.
