In his most recent string of social media posts, after apparently reading information online without fact-checking, he admitted, 'I was wrong.'

Stephen King apologized on Twitter/X Friday morning for wrongly saying Charlie Kirk had advocated for ‘stoning gays.’
The ‘King of horror’ clarified that Kirk had instead demonstrated how some people cherry-pick Biblical passages, after his fatal shooting at a Utah college campus on Wednesday.

King admitted he was wrong for sharing something on Twitter without fact-checking, promising it won’t happen again.
After backlash from his initial post, including Texas Senator Ted Cruz calling him a ‘horrible, evil, twisted liar,' he has continued to post apologies on the matter.
After posting his initial claim on the social media platform Thursday afternoon, it has since been deleted, though this remains a developing story.

Stephen King has recently returned to the platform formerly known as Twitter after leaving in November 2024, when he said the atmosphere there had become too toxic.
His first post back in February 2025 read ‘I’m baaaack! Did you miss me?’ followed by a politically charged tweet.
