Law enforcement in northern Maine will take part in the 2019 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, June 5th & 6th.

Everyone is invited to cheer on the runners as they make their way down Route 1. Motorists are advised to be prepared to slow down and move over as police escorts travel with the torch throughout the morning & day.

As the torch heads south from Fort Kent & Madawaska, many local police departments will be involved.

The Torch Run is an important fundraiser for the Special Olympics. It brought in $400,000 in 2018. This is the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics State Summer Games.

Runners from many areas of Maine are participating - the final destination is the University of Maine, Orono, Friday, June 7th. The torch will be featured in the parade & the opening ceremonies.
