Shoegazers Slowdive have released their first new song since 1995. You can listen to "Star Roving" above.

They premiered the track on Facebook this morning, writing, "When the band decided to get back together in 2014 we really wanted to make new music. It's taken us a whole load of shows and a few false starts to get to that point, but it's with pride and a certain trepidation we unleash 'Star Roving.' We really hope folks enjoy it, it's part of a bunch of new tracks we've been working on and it feels as fun, and as relevant playing together now as it did when we first started."

Formed in Reading, England, in 1989, Slowdive released three albums and a five EPs between 1991 and 1995, after which guitaists/vocalists Neil Halstead and Rachel Goswell formed a country-influenced act called Mojave 3 and continued working for another decade. But three years ago, Halstead and Goswell got back together with original members Mick Chaplin (bass), Christian Savill (guitar) and Simon Scott (drums) for a world tour, which included a couple of U.S. festivals and two weeks in North America.

"Star Roving" is the first fruit of a new album that NME suggests is expected to come out sometime this year. Although their last record was 1995's Pygmalion, in 2015, they recognized the 25th anniversary of their self-titled debut EP by delivering a live take of one of its songs, "Avalyn." As of now, they have one show on their calendar for 2017, a spot at London's Field Day festival in Victoria Park on June 3.
