The Shead Tigerettes proved too much for the Ashland Hornets Monday, cruising to a quarterfinal victory at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

The No. 2 Tigers (17-2) employed a potent offensive attack on their way to a 73-33 win over No. 7 Ashland, which ends its season at 9-11.

Shead, the defending Class D North champions, was led by senior captain Holly Preston with 19 points. Junior Cassidy Wilder scored 16 points and sophomore Madison Greenlaw added 13.

For Ashland, sophomore Olivia Tardie finished with 11 points.

Shead earns a trip to the semifinals against the Washburn Beavers.
