ORIGINAL STORY:

A snowmobiler was involved in a serious accident Tuesday night in the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes region of western New Brunswick.

The individual was traveling on Trail 19 when he crashed his sled after failing to negotiate a curve, according to a report by CIMT. Another snowmobiler contacted emergency services just after 10:30 p.m. from a residence on Grande Rivière Road.

Saint-Léonard firefighters were first to be called to the scene. The assistance of the Van Buren, Maine Fire Department was immediately requested since it has the necessary equipment to perform a rescue in the forest.

Officials say the victim was about 5 kilometers from the nearest road. A little over an hour passed between the 911 call and the time the injured snowmobiler was transported by ambulance.

There’s no word on the man’s condition today.
