Here's a scam alert!

Mainers are receiving calls that appear to be from the Social Security Administration and falsely informing them that their Social Security number has been compromised.

In many cases, victims are threatened that their Social Security number will be deactivated or that there is a warrant out for their arrest. The con artists demand additional information from victims, claiming it is needed to verify their identity. This is a scam.

If you receive this call, please immediately hang up. Never give out your personal information over the phone to an unsolicited caller. You can report fraudulent calls to my U.S. Senate Aging Committee Fraud Hotline at 1-855-303-9470.
