The Boston Red Sox have done something they didn't do the entire 2018 season, losing their 4th game in a row, as Oakland shutout the Red Sox 1-0 Tuesday night. Boston has now gone 18 innings without a run.

The Red Sox finally received a good performance from their starting pitching, but again the home run bit the Red Sox. Chris Sale (0-2) went 6 innings, allowing just 3 hits, but 1 of those was a homer to left field in the 1st inning by Matt Chapman, his 3rd of the inning. Sale struck out 1 and walked 1. Brandon Workman and Ryan Brasier each threw a hitless inning of relief.

The Red Sox had 7 hits. Mookie Betts, Christian Vazquez and Xander Bogaerts each had a double. The Red Sox had a chance to tie the game in the 9th as Mitch Moreland took a 2 out walk. Eduardo Nunez ran for him and stole 2nd, but Brock Holt struck out swinging to end the game.

The Red Sox, now 1-5 will take on Oakland Wednesday night in the 3rd game of the 4 game series. Nathan Eovaldi will take the mound for Boston. The pregame starts at 9:05 and first pitch at 10:07 on AM 1370 WDEA
