Red Sox Shutout Arizona to End Miserable Road Trip 1-0 [VIDEO]

The Boston Red Sox beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 1-0 Sunday to finish a long, terrible road trip on a winning note. The Red Sox, who played 11 games in 11 days finished the West Coast road trip 3-8. The Red Sox are off on Monday, before being the last team to have their home opener on Tuesday, April 9th.

Hector Velazquez started for Boston, and became the 1st Red Sox starting pitcher to go 3 innings without allowing a run. He was pulled after 3 innings, allowing just 1 hit. Marcus Walden picked up the win, throwing 2 innings of 1 hit ball, striking out 1 and walking 1. Walden was recalled from Pawtucket on Saturday, April 6th when Brian Johnson was placed on the 10 Day Disabled List with left elbow inflammation. Matt Barnes pitched the 7th and 8th inning for the hold and Ryan Brasier pitched the 9th inning for his 2nd save of the season.

The Red Sox' lone run came via Mitch Moreland's 3rd homer of the season in the 7th inning. Andrew Benintendi, batting lead-off was 2-4. JD Martinez was hitless and had his 10 game hitting streak snapped.

The Red Sox will receive their World Series rings on Tuesday. Chris Sale will pitch the home opener, and Dustin Pedroia is expected to be activated. The pregame on Tuesday will begin at 1PM with the 1st pitch at 2:05 on AM 1370 WDEA.
