A night after getting thumped by the Orioles, the Boston Red Sox returned the favor, scoring 4 runs in the 2nd inning and 8 runs in the 4th inning en route to a 17-6 win over the Baltimore Orioles in Baltimore on Saturday night, July 20th

In fact the Red Sox led 5-0 after the top of the 3rd, but Baltimore scored 5 in the bottom of the 3rd off of Rick Porcello and Red Sox fans had that uneasy feeling in their pits of the stomachs before the Sox added the 8-spot in the 4th.

Porcello went 5 innings for the win, allowing 11 hits and 6 runs, striking out 4 and walking 1.

The ball was flying out of Camden Yards on a hot night, as the 2 teams combined for 7 home runs. Jackie Bradley Jr. had a pair of 3 run homers, Rafael Devers hit his 20th homer of the season, and Mookie Betts hit his 15th of the season. Even Sandy Leon hit a homer, his 3rd of the season.

The Red Sox banged out 17 hits. Mookie Betts and JD Martinez each had 3 hits. Devers, Xander Bogaerts, Christian Vazquez and JBJ each had 2 hits.

Prior to the game, the Red Sox reinstated Nathan Eovaldi to the active roster, to assume the closer's position. To make room, they optioned Ryan Weber to Pawtucket.

The Red Sox are 11 games out of 1st place and 3 games out of the Wild Card.
