JBJ's 17th homer came in the 2nd inning. Christian Vazquez hit a 2-run shot in the 4th inning and Xander Bogaerts hit his 28th of the season, a solo shot in the 5th inning.

Brock Holt finished the night 3-4. Bogaerts added a double, his 45th and JD Martinez also had 2 hits.

Rick Porcello went 5 innings scattering 8 hits and allowing 2 runs. He struck out 5 and didn't walk a batter. Darwinzon Hernandez pitched a scoreless 6th inning and Ryan Brasier pitched a scoreless 7th. Josh Smith allowed 4 runs on 4 hits, 2 of them homers in 1.1 inning, before Josh Taylor got the final 2 outs of the game.

The Red Sox are now 71-62 and 6 games out of the final wild card spot. They will take on the Colorado Rockies Wednesday night in the final game of the 2 game series.
