RCMP say human remains that were discovered near Renous, New Brunswick have been confirmed to be those of a Tilley man, who disappeared more than 2 1/2 months ago.

The investigation has led police to believe 59-year-old Wayne Rattray was murdered, according to Cst. Jullie Rogers-Marsh.

The RCMP in New Brunswick’s Major Crime Unit has been investigating the disappearance of Rattray, who was last seen in the early morning hours of March 2 at his residence on Walker Road. A short time later, police and fire crews responded to a fire that destroyed Rattray's home.  A pickup truck belonging to Wayne Rattray was located on March 7, engulfed in flames on a lane off Highway 109 in Three Brooks, N.B.

Police say the body was found May 21 in Renous.
