A new Prince documentary is reportedly on the way in 2017.

Prince: R U Listening will chronicle the iconic musician's early years, focusing on his rise to fame and featuring interviews from his band members as well as friends and admirers including Bono, Lenny Kravitz, Billy Idol, Sheila E. and Mick Jagger, Billboard reports.  The documentary will be directed by Michael Kirk (Find Your Groove) and is reportedly slated for the second quarter of 2017, though no further details about an exact release date are currently available.

However, the documentary sounds promising. Dez Dickerson, who was a close friend and played with Prince 1979 until just after the 1999 tour as well as bassist André Cymone, who started out with Prince in Grand Central and toured with him until 1981 will both make appearances in the film.

The Prince estate recently released the first posthumous track, "Moonbeam Level" last week. Prince originally recorded the song in 1982 during the sessions for his iconic 1999 album. Later, the track was also considered for the Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic album. Additionally, a deluxe reissue of Purple Rain will be released in 2017.
