Bryan Cranston's making a Power Rangers homecoming.

The Emmy-winner and Breaking Bad actor has been cast in the superhero series' film reboot as Zordon, a benevolent floating head who recruits the titular teenage heroes to save the world, Cranston confirmed last night (June 21) via Twitter. But it's not the first time the actor will tour through Angel Grove — years ago, he was hell-bent on taking the Rangers out.

In a 2009 interview with IGN, Cranston said he started out his career as an actor with dubbing and voice-over work, and the original Power Rangers TV show, which premiered in 1993, was just one of his gigs. His voice was usually applied to the show's villains.

"... it paid like $50.00 an hour, which was fantastic," he said. "And you'd work two, three hours at least a day...They actually named [the Blue Ranger Billy Cranston] after me."

In the March 2017 movie adaptation of the series, though, it'll be Elizabeth Banks who's intent on destroying the Rangers as the newly sexed-up Rita Repulsa.

Earlier today, Banks and a handful of her fellow cast members shared a new promotional image of the upcoming feature, which finds its protagonists staring into a starry sky (you might see that emblematic thunderbolt in a constellation) from a car's roof. Well, all but one of them...

"That’s Red Ranger on the right," Banks pointed out. Poor guy.
