Maine State Police say 40-year-old Marlin Hostetler was driving southbound hauling a load of potatoes in a 1999 International tractor-trailer around 9 p.m. Hostetler began to feel some heat in the cab of the truck and also smelled some fumes. He pulled over and got out of the truck. State Police say the vehicle was immediately engulfed by flames.

Trooper Timmy Saucier, Stacyville Fire Department, and the Patten Ambulance responded to the scene. The southbound lanes of the interstate were closed for a short period of time Wednesday night while the fire was extinguished and debris cleared from the highway.

There were no injuries in the blaze, but the truck was completely destroyed.
