The Saint John Police Force says Grigori Zaharov and Natalia Feldman of Vaughan, Ontario are being held by York Region police and will be returned to New Brunswick to face theft related charges.
A warrant had been issued for the pair following a theft at W. Smith and Co. Fine Jewellers on October 7th where a couple argued over which diamonds to buy and then switched the real things for fakes when the salespeople were distracted.
Saint John police say the pair are suspects in similar thefts in numerous other jurisdictions and the store owner says he knows directly of a half-dozen thefts from Vancouver to the Maritimes.
