Mitch Moreland swatted a three-run, pinch-hit homer in the top of the ninth as the Red Sox rallied past the Seattle Mariners, 7-6, on Friday night.

Moreland's one-out homer to right off Hunter Strickland lifted Boston to its first win of the year.

With the Red Sox trailing 6-2 in the top of the sixth, J.D. Martinez provided a spark by belting his first home run of the year, a solo blast to center field.

Christian Vazquez hit a homer of his own in the eighth inning, a bomb to left field to cut the Red Sox deficit to 6-4.

Red Sox righty Nathan Eovaldi was hit hard in his first start of the season, allowing six earned runs on eight hits, including three home runs, in just five innings.

The Red Sox turned to Matt Barnes to get the save. The 28-year-old righty retired the side in order, striking out Daniel Vogelbach to end the game.

The Red Sox (1-1) and Mariners (3-1) will play game three of their four-game series Saturday at 9:10 p.m.
