The Boston Bruins will be without leading scorer Brad Marchand for the remainder of the regular season as the NHL has given him a two-game suspension on Thursday afternoon.

Marchand will miss the two remaining games against Ottawa Thursday night and Washington on Saturday, after spearing Tampa Bay Lighting defense-man Jake Dotchin in the crotch this past Tuesday night.

The NHL noted in their decision to suspend the Bs forward that the force of the spear, the intent, and Marchand's history of attacking the lower body of his opposition as the reason for the ban.  This will be the eighth time that Marchand has been either fined or suspended for altercations on the ice, and was fined earlier this season for an incident with Detroit player Niklas Kronwall.

The Bs are currently battling for playoff positioning in the Eastern Conference and are tied for second place with the Senators with 94 points, with just two contests remaining.

Marchand has played in all 80 games this season for the Bs and compiled a team high 39 goals and 85 points.  The Boston game versus Ottawa will get underway shortly after 7 p.m. from the TD Garden.
