Malcolm Young Spotted on Stroll in Sydney
Young, 62, was wearing a grey knit cap on a stroll not far from a facility at Elizabeth Bay where he is reportedly receiving part-time care. Young is apparently splitting time between there and a new $10 million waterfront home on Palm Beach in Sydney, purchased back in March. (We're not sure exactly why he's labeled as looking "frail" in this tweet.)
AC/DC announced Young's retirement from AC/DC last September, later revealing a dementia diagnosis. The full scope of his health issues is still coming into focus. “He had a lung operation; he had a heart operation," brother and bandmate Angus Young later revealed. "He seemed to get everything hit him at once, besides his dementia. So he had quite a lot of things going on.”
AC/DC, meanwhile, have begun to tour in support of Rock or Bust, which included songwriting credits, but no performances, from Malcolm. The album, their first since 2008's Black Ice, debuted at No. 3, and has spun off three singles. Nephew Stevie Young took over for Malcolm on both Rock or Bust and the tour. AC/DC launched with dates in Europe; they'll arrive in North America in August.
